Outlook.

Is there a way I can check my sent messages in Outlook and see if the receiving person(s) has opened the mail I sent them? I used to be able to do it in Groupwise, but I have modern technology now and it's a bit crap.

In a word, no, and there never has been a way to do it. Delivered and read confirmations are not reliable, if you don't get one it doesn't mean the mail has not been delivered or read (I always disable that feature on mail systems) and if you do get one it's all too easy for it to be a false positive (archive systems can generate them, outlook with the preview pane open will generate them, forwards to group addresses can generate them but doesn't mean the right person has read it and so on).

As JB says, it has never been possible to do this on Outlook or Groupwise or anything else. The reason you might have thought you could do it with Groupwise was if you were using it within an organisation's internal email and the administrators had enabled this facility.

You could always add a ps. asking the addressee to confirm that they have read it.

On a related note, I have my email set up to specifically ignore incoming requests for a receipt.
