OWL electricity monitor/metre or similarHas anyone used the OWL thing that tells you what your electricity consumption is - or any of the other makes?
I'd like to get one, but have no idea of differences between cheaper and more expensive ones, what you have to do to install them etc etc.
If you do use one, does it make a difference to your electricity usage?

I have an Owl, they are very easy to install. My only criticism is the display unit tends to get through batteries quickly, replacing them every 3 months or so.

No its YOU that make the difference to your usage. The Owl just tells you what you are using in an easier to see format than your current meter. Seeing it displayed in £'s encourages you to turn stuff off.

ISTR that Penny [Squat Orange T-shirts] had a positive experience using an OWL to help her family reduce electricity usage.

We did, too - it worked very well making us cut down. We should dig it out again and stick it on the meter here.

We use one. I'v just put new batteries in now that our consumption is likely to go up with the shorter days- I know if the children have left things on but what level it's displaying so have found it very useful
