Peacock Fethers for craftsHi
My peacock is moulting and I am saving the lovely blue neck feathers, green shoulder and fluffy undercarriage feathers. If anybody would like any for crafts etc please PM me.

Can I just say that Pea sent me some of Basil's feathers for my father who ties flies for fishing and they were beautiful.
Thanks Pea.

we have loads of them and took them to John Wilson's fishing shop in norwich
they were ever so pleased
they are very good for fishing flies like you say
mostly we throw them away though because we have too many....
such a shame as they are beautiful things

They'd look great used in other crafts too ,as they are wonderful colours. Seems such a shame to waste them

i have to say that despite what people say about peacocks, i feel quite honoured to own such a beautiful animal

I can totally understand why Nanny,as not only are they beautful but they are so majestic.. Truly stunning birds. How do you cope with the noise they make though? Not sure the people in my village would approve ,although they dont mind all my cockerels crowing?

How about bagging up any surplus for ebay or freecycle? Probably a limit to how many you can give away if they are in full moult
We had a pair move in one year, took ages to get them back to their proper home. They were beautiful, but made a horrid mess of the garden

peacocks only shout when they are reacting to another noise or during the breeding season (march to july)
we have a female as well - mr and mrs monty so he has little need of shouting for anything
our next door neighbour commented to use once that he was surprised that he rarely heard monty shouting
as to the mess................well i have to say that we have always kept our peacocks in the run with the cats............
the run is 35 ft by about 15 by 8 ft tall so plenty of room for everybody
so they don't get into my garden
when we move to wales, they will be running free after a settling in period so things may very well change.............

the ones that turned up to 'squat' at my parents hiked about 3 miles before they decided they liked our garden Silly birds can be a bit contrary at times

i cant do the noise in type
i have lures with them as a feature .
talk to the fishers
both the eye and hurl are prized .
dont under sell .
a few pounds each .
negociate but a lot of whatever those noisy ,quite scary critters eat .i lived about a mile and a bit from some ,i prefer a nearby rooster ,just .do they make quiet ones ,they are awesome pretty (alledgedly tasty )and if they moult naturaly you have a useful commodity

i dont' think they are overly bright but as they are so beautiful, you forgive them that particular trespass
we will have to keep them enclosed for several weeks till they know where they live before letting them out
then they will have 40 acres on which to take their chances on................

I had a stray from the neighbouring farm last year he was only 18 months old but still wonderful to watch. He quite enjoyed the strawberries out of the polytunnel and standing underneath the blackcurrent bushes helping himself. Everytime I wnt to the veg patch he came running out with another strawberry!!! Peafowl dont make as much mess as chooks on your grass but, in the garden, being bigger they do desimate your flowers pretty sharpish!!

never sold them for that much.................
i think i did a handfull for a couple of quid....
unfortunately quiet ones are not available
we did think of raising them for medeival banquets but nobody expressed much interest so didn't bother any more and anyway they aren't easy to raise..................

any bird in a run with cats is scarey
eyes prized by lure fishers ,i got a bargain of 6 for £3 quid in the market but one plume can tie many flies with the hurl .
there is a market cos they are few (see noise n scary )
i know you love yours but im glad they are there not here
