phone booksanyone got upto date info on recycling of phone books?
Just phoned my council who don't recycle them (gave me some story about the paper being too poor quality).... but a check on google tells me some councils do.

Use them to grow indoor Oyster mushrooms?
Bought some spawn from Mr Fothergills that suggests you use loo rolls or old phone books to grow them on.

I think that somewhere in the book is a web address you can search for recycling sites. Not sure where my phone book is, so can't check for you.

You could make your own paper!

I was told only today that they had too much ink on them to recycle.

Old phone book recyclingI was told that telephone directories are no good for recycling. In Newcastle we're allowed to put them in the recycling box for up to a month after new ones are issued, otherwise I suppose the normal bin is the only answer.

just had an email back from the council.....they can be recycled in Abitbi collecting bins which a lot of schools have apparently. Off to research Abitibi now!!

Abitibi bins are green with yellow tops.......they are not publicised for general use because of school security isses, but their website will tell you where your nearest one is if you put your postcode in. My daughter's school has one.....result!!
