Plummy things id please

Can anyone tell me what these plummy things are please - I've put them next to a branch of sloe for comparison. they've been greeny yellow most of the year and extremely sour, but now are turning colour and almost dropping off the tree i thougt i would try some wine with them ( am all jammed out Smile ) they're not so sour now either, and there are so many of them it seems a waste not to do something!

gil

Bullaces of some kind.
You could make jelly with them instead of jam
Would also make good bullace gin
emilyluddite

Thanks gil, yes jelly would be easier than all that skimming of stones which is worth it with damsons i think, but as i said i'm a bit jammed out, so i think it's plum (or bullace or whatever they are) plonk for me!

Aren't the black ones plump sloes?
Jamanda

The dark ones look exactly like what we have been picking large numbers of. I decided they were bullaces, but I think wild plums sounds nicer for the wine, jam, gin etc that I've made from them.

I found some of these too a few weeks ago - took pics but didnt get round to posting them!

I went on the net to look them up and thought they were too small for bullaces....

thanks everyone, I didn't know there was so much to know about bullaces, however after much research I now feel confident to state that these are in fact bullaces but now have to establish whether they are Black, Shepherds, Golden or Langley.... http://www.biglittlefruit.co.uk/Bullaces.htm

Blimey - I thought bullaces was a catch-all for things that didn't fit into other categories. Sigh - more stuff to identify Sad

Got some on the windowsill as we speak Very Happy Could possibly rename the things that seem to be intermediate between sloes and damsons - damsloes or slamsons Confused
