pond clearingafter much pondering and psyching myself up for it, I finally got around to clearing out our pond. the dry weather meant the water level was really low and the margins were bone dry, so ripping up dry roots was a relative doddle!
there was around 13 years of rotting leaf vegetation in the water and I'm going to have a right load of goo to put on the compost... hope the newts and snails make it back to the water - I've piled the sludge and water soldiers up on the cleared margins to drain. I'm wondering if the shrivveled flag iris roots will come back to life or will I have to get new plants....
