Pork?hi, i am wondering if anyone would be interested in any pork. We regularly send pigs off and are just starting to sell it. All our pigs are pedigree welsh, traditional raised with no antibiotics or growth promoters and are gm free. Very taty meat with excellent carcusses. We are based in Neath south wales, could possibly deliver some. Whole or half pigs, joints or chops all butchered and bagged for the freezer, sensibly priced. So would anyone be interested?

Hi Chris
What sort of delivery would you do and what would be your delivery charge.
Would you do as far out as Carmarthen and surrounding area?
Will you have sausages to order, if so are they plain or with choice of flavouring ie garlic, herbs etc?
As asked before what sort of price would you be seeking?
We would probably be interested in a source of naturally reared pork.
What sort of price would half and a whole piggie work out on average?
Hope you haven't been washed out today! It has stopped raining here for now! Sheep all got their bikini's on The tups got a lifebelt on!

final desicion depending on price, but in principle absolutely. You are very local to us and we'd much rather buy local meat as long as we can fit it into the budget.

would be interested but I think I'll be too far away or the delivery charge will make it too expensive for us

Can't beat home made proper pork sausages
The abbatoir that does them here uses skins that are very tough though, don't know what they are made of but not good.
I have heard there are good pork suppliers around Aberaeron but have never been to see.

We use natural skins & the quality does vary as you would expect with a natural product.

Wonder if any downsizers would ever be travelling from Wales to your neck of the wood at some point?
Prepared to take a piggy passenger? Nothing to lose by asking anyway.
BTW I love your avatar, it reminds me of my childhood for some reason.
Daresay the pyschologists would have an answer or three

2steps - you are near Rob R though and the meat that he sells is wonderful - I can vouch for the Pork and the Beef - not tried the lamb yet
Thats not to take anything away from NeathChris' meat but it makes sense to use what is nearby

These always seem to be the same. Do some abbatoirs use synthetic ones at all?
What about wild boar? I know there is a business in Mid Wales if memory serves well.
That is a taste to savour a real treat at Christmas when the pennies allow.

Some places will use manufactured ones (colegen I think). We have done wild boar crosses ourself & to be honest compared to our other breeds there is not much difference. But campared to tesburys pork they are worlds apart (but then so is our standard breeds). Nearby is always best. We have found lotys of problems with using couriers as we live miles from any depots. They never turn up to collect when asked even if I have given them 2-3 days notice. & if they do turn up they dont deliver by the next day. But then I am happy selling localy & dont want lots of orders so I have to get bigger. I can sell all that I produce & what I cant sell we eat.

Hi, good to see so many people interested in locally sourced produce. We are just starting to market our pork, and so far local demand is good, we seem to sell out very quickly with everyone commenting on how wonderful the taste is. We currently sell chops at £5kg, joints £4.50kg, half or whole pig butchered £2kg. We have based theprice on what local butchers charge. The meat has been seen by local butchers and they have said it is top quality, as did the abbatoir who said its the best carcusses they have seen in a long time. We dont have any pork at the moment but will be sending some soon and as the herd increases slowly overtime so will pork prodution. this is the first time we have ever advertised our pork, we have gone by word of mouth so far and are selling out. We can hopefully deliver to around llandeilo area? After reading this what do people think??

£2 kg for a dead gutted carcass sounds perfect to me, put us down for a whole pig please and we can easily collect
Does it come dehaired or will we need to do that ourselves (I hate dehairing!)

Sounds like you will go bust to me as £2 per kg dead weight wont cover ALL the costs. The butchers must be realy cheap to only charge £4.5 on joints & £5 on chops per KG even the big discounters charge more.

Hi, sorry to do this but i have been told by the money man of the operation, my brother, that the price is £3.5kg whole or half pig I mixed that price up with an order i put in for somthing else, once again, sorry to have misled you on that.
The other prices are correct, we charge what local butchers charge, and what local people can afford to pay, and what covers our costs. We are probably cheaper than other people in other areas, but if we charged more people in our aea could not afford it. Sorry for the confusion on the one price.

Are you going to be restricted to only Wales for delivery or would Shropshire be too far
