Post Drive help

Hi, Newbie here

Came across you're site looking for help on a post driver I've just brought, it's the same type as the one shown here on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIjZ_ggc0gk

anyway i seem to missing something (no doubt in my head), I've fitted it to my 3 point link and all it does is lift the back end up, while the knocker bit, just stays on the floor.

any help?

thanks
Kev
Nick

Welcome!

No idea, I'm afraid, as I can't fully visualise your problem (and, I know nothing about tractors!), but someone will, I'm sure. Smile

lol, cheers nick Smile

Are you connecting it directly to the tractor or using the tractors top link? I'm assuming you're doing the latter?

Hi rob

I 'think' I'm connecting it to the top link!

My first tractor sorry.
Rob R

Those types work by connecting where the top link connects to the tractor & then the 'beam' pivots directly against the tractor, using the lift arms to provide the lift. So if you use the top link it will leave it on the floor, if I've understood your problem correctly...
RichardW

Have you fitted the top link?

Should be mounted on the two lift arms & with a adjustable top link.

Ok thanks rob, I think I know what you mean!

I have just been viewing the you tube video again and noticed I've not connecting a 2nd link from the top link of the tractor to the middle botton of the driver, so that wont be helping either!

Cheers

The driver came with it's own top link which I fitted direct onto the tractor, then fitter the 2 tractor arms to the 2 arms on the driver.

As I wrote below, I'm missing out a link from the bottom of the driver to I'm guessing one of the other top links holes.

does that sound about right?

kev, I think a photo would help immensely (welcome btw)

Yep, the arm isn't rigid, it's a parallel linkage to keep the business end aligned vertically over the post, you need both 'top linkages' in place, the lower to hold the machine as the lift arms raise it and the upper to maintain the parallel linkage angle.

Hope kev finds that useful. Welcome aboard RGT

I ran out of pins to fit the other top link up, so I have been unable to try yet, but will let you all know!

Yes it was the bottom top link connection that was missing, once I connected it all up, the full post came up and wow what a monster, i have no doubt it would kill someone!!

I just though I would confirm it, as when you;re looking for the same thing and you see someone already with the same problem but the thread is never updated.

Thanks all for help Smile

Thanks for the update, like you say it's always annoying when a thread is left in suspense.
