it is working for me currently though so I suspect its going to be one of those annoying and non reproducible difficult to trace problems

Could it be a junk filter problem your end(s).

Works fine for me - but we have very few filters on the business account, as they kept taking customer e-mails and hiding them

I have found a email "failure notice" that sheds a little light and I have made a change, may be a few hours to come live.

What can I do about the anti-spam thingy? A lot of my stuff from Freecycle arrives labelled 'spam'.

Well I removed the anti spam SPF record on downsizer, I am only in the early stages of using these records and mayhap I got it wrong  though I did use an online wizard that should have made the process fool proof.
