A great review by Behemoth with much that mirrors my own view of the book
Which might be summarised as a great book to have to introduce you to various facets of preserving, but not worth the £25 cover price.
Definately as you say, a bit thin in places

Having a quick read through the review it looks like a good book for the shelf.

I agree pretty much with Behemoth about this book. I thought it was OK, all right as a casual read, but not something that I would go back to again and again.
I got it for Christmas, but having read the River Cottage books first, I was disappointed. I had a couple of smiles while reading it, but no real delight or inspiration.

I think it may depend on what level you are at already.
I am pleased to have this one on the shelf as a gift and is it cheap from book bargains.
At the cover price I would be pretty unhappy though.

I like this book. yes, I think you could take it further in a lot of areas, but as a general overview it insired me to have a go at a lot of things. I'm just wondering where I can fit a drying box......
having a surplus of honey around the place, I can't wait to try the fruit leathers.
