Programmer requiredI'm looking to set up a simple but robust and highly efficient multi platform(ish) database that has an offline component wherein you can add and report on your own data as well as an on-line database where you can upload your own data and view other peoples. It's not anticipated to have a huge number of users and will be a free service aimed at people with small woodlands/agroforestry type planting schemes.
There will be funding available for this, this is intended to be a serious and very long term project so should be as platform independent as possible, open source software would be ideal as the users will not be paying any kind of subscription to use the service and we don't want to run into any licensing issues.

If you don't get any replies I wonder if it is the sort of thing universities or colleges would be interested in for a final year project? I've always found getting the idea harder than doing those projects.

Student? maybe, the primary concern though is that it has to be extremely robust, totally foolproof and as future proof as possible.
