pumpkin questionHi, i grew pumpkins this year and i have one that is almost fully orange but it has snapped off the vine( i think the kids have been pulling on it) it has a few very pale green patches on it, it sounds hollow when i tap it but my thumb nail breaks the skin when i press it, is it ripe? will it ripen off the plant?

It's very early. Might be worth putting it somewhere sunny and dry to see if it hardens up a bit

Most squashes will ripen quite well off the plant (they just won't get any bigger).
Somewhere warm & dry with good ari circulation is ideal - like a conservatory or greenhouse.

thanks for your help guys. I think all of mine have finished growing anyway they are all turning orange and none of them seem to be getting any bigger

should be ok - so long as you stop sticking your thumbnail into it!
I have picked squashes early before of frost and successfully finished ripening them indoors, in the sunshine

Same thing happened to me. I have it ripening up in the greenhouse.
