PumpkinsI live in Surrey and have grown pumpkins outdoors this year and I have a couple of promising looking fruit. The evenings are drawing in and the nights are cooler, are they still ok outside?

Fine until the frost starts. I usually bring mine in in October.

Yep. The first frost usually isn't too bad, so it kills off the vines without damaging the pumpkins. This has the added benefit that the smaller pumpkins are easier to find!

I brought my only surviving pumpkin indoors yesterday - 3kg and white skinned, lovely.

What for, eating or carving?
The big carving ones don't usually make good carving. For eating there are many varieties, ranging from nutty, savoury to super sweet.
I quite like Uchiki Kuri (sp?) and turks Turban (although some say it's not as good).

for eating, also the few i have grown have yellow skins do i need to leave them to turn orange before i pick them?

They may be naturally yellow! Or you can eat them immediately, if you are going to store it cut the vine and bring them into a dry sunny environment (porch/windowcill) and they'll turn orange. Store in a cool dry place.

Mine are undercover in the greenhouse to allow the skins to cure before resting in the garage until we eat them. They look great - but we only got 3, two good size ones and a little one, it does not seem like a very good return for the amount of space they take up, but they are good fun to grow.
