yes, I've seen this claimed before... haven't bothered to search any journals about it however...

I always said that the Chernobyl would be interesting from a genetics point of view.

Anyway, this also reminds me of a Radio 4 program about Bhopal. Apparently the area around the spill (one of the most hideous events in recent human history, I think) is now the greenest area in that part of India. Hardly surprising; there are no living insects to eat the plants Sad
