Raspberry & chocolate jam...

I have by me a small jar of the above. It's yummy, and I think I'm going to have a go at my own. The question is: when to add the chocolate? Grated or melted?

First thought is to roughly grate the chocolate and add to the jam just before putting it into jars.

Are you sure the chocolate is chocolate and not hazelnut?

In any case, it sounds revolting. I seem to be one of the few people around who are not chocoholic.

I'm glad you said that, Thos. I wasn't entirely convinced about the concept either.

And what do you want to mess about with your raspberry jam for M? It is lovely as it is!

Or you could always put nutella on one slice of bread, raspberry jam on the other, and you've got an excellent sandwich only beaten by using damson jam* instead.

*that isn't to say that damson is the ultimate jam. It isn't. Apricot and elderflower is the ultimate jam, but it doesn't go with nutella.

I reckon raspberry jam with a little dark grated chocolate in it sounds good, I might be tempted to spread the jam on my toast and grate chocolate on top though.

Chocolate spread & peanut butter I beleive has a strong following..

However have you tried marmite & honey....I have it most mornings for breakfast.

Nope, it's definitely chocolate. I had my doubts about the idea before I tried it, but it works really well. I think damson or black cherry would work well with the chocolate, which is of the dark variety. Anyway, I'm going to have a go next week perhaps, seeing as how I'm feeling so much better!

Raspberry and chocolate is a good combination, beloved of Nigella.

I'm just trying to figure out chocolate-in-jam. And I'm puzzled. Is the chocolate visible as bits, or has it been blended into the syrup?

If you look really carefully you can see bits about 3mm square. I know they're chocolate because I've fished a couple out! Thus my assumption it's added near the end as grated chocolate, rather than earlier when it would melt. Can't waiy for the weekend to experiment!

By the way, it's made by Emily's. Available in Harrods in London and Down to Earth in Llanfyllin.
