Rechargeable Battery - 4R25?

Does such a thing exist? It's the big square lantern battery with the springs on top.

I couldn't seem to find one on a google search....

The standard Eveready batteries don't last any time at all these days Rolling Eyes

I found this on Ebay

By the time you've bought the charger you would probably be better off buying a rechargeable lantern

Thanks for the link...I can't find the charger though?

Seems like your suggestion of a rechargeable lantern would be most sensible... Oh well,I guess we send two plastic torches to landfill, in the persuit of seeing what the dogs are doing in the garden after dark, ferreting around in dark corners, and locking up the chickens!

It's all loaded against being green isn't it?

I now use an LED head torch with rechargeable AAA batteries with the dogs its very bright and keeps your hands free. It throws the light quite a long way but obviously not as far as a powerfull lantern. With regards to the plastic to landfill we are exceptionally lucky here in Derby that we have a fortnightly collection for any type of plastics including yoghurt pots and marge containers.

I'm assuming this is a 6volt one?

If so, I would convert it to fit a small alarm battery (sealed gel type - eg Yuhasa) - you can buy rechargeable flourescent lamps with them already fitted.
Fit some spade terminals (of the appropriate sort to fit the battery ( by either crimping them onto the existing wires or soldering onto the existing terminals with a short piece of cable.

Find a suitable charger - I have a multi volt charger that I am using for this purpose, from a car boot sale, I exchange dthe ends for crocodile clips, to fit various batteries.

I have this sort of setup on some lamps and my radio, and they last for ages and cost next to nothing, as it was all salvaged/car boot

Thanks for reply...but I gave up and bought a rechargeable lantern as suggested Rolling Eyes

Fiddling with crocodile clips, chargers and stuff is the OH's department, and I'd dare not ask him for anything at the mo as he's up to his eyes in plaster and plumbing stuff.
