Recommendations for (cheap) hand pump anyone?

Looking to be able to pump rain water for the veg plot from old baths and the like. Not able to lay out the bath water butts and veg plot so that it runs down hill.

We want a hand pump that is portable.
Need to be able to pump water 20 feet or so along the side of a hill, maybe a few feet up a hill. Any recommendations for something that is easy to use and won't break the bank. (Easy as in don't have to prime it ten times over before it will suck.) Also preferably something that will cope with bits of algae and general gunk in the water.

A marine bilge pump might do it - they come in all shapes and sizes/prices. The ones I used when I had a boat (not for very long) seemed efficient although you may need one which is more heavy duty.
