Recording apple picking dates

As some of you may know, I setup an Apple Tree Register on my site a year or so ago, where people can record details of their apple trees. If anyone is interested, I have now added a new feature where you can record the picking dates. I think it will be interesting to see how the picking dates for the same varieties vary by location and season.

See http://www.orangepippin.com/appletreeregister.aspx.

Comments welcome.

I really should be on there.

I've just put a few more of mine in - for me, you're lacking a 'standard' 'halfstandard' classification. I think fruit colour/shape/size would help too - then at some time in the future it could be a fruit id resource.

Is it going to be like a dog's microchip, where you get a badge to hammer onto the trunk with the id number and if your orchard changes hand the new owners can just look up details on the register? Wouldn't that have saved me some time when we took ours over! All my mother said was these are for cider, don't eat them, these are cookers, don't eat them, these are eaters . . .

Not any more! Good suggestion, I have just added these formats.

Yes, have not got around to this yet ... I might also allow photo uploads.

It was not intended to be quite that rigourous, but it's an interesting idea - I do use a unique tree number for each registration.

so how long would that take you? Very Happy

OP, do you have an express entry facility that covers 'one of each on your database' for Tahir?

Sort of - you can email the details in a spreadsheet and I will load them into the database.
