Recycling CDs and DVDsJust read in The Indie about an organisation called The Laundry, which recyles DVDs, CDs, videos and cassette tapes.

I have a large box of knackered tapes that I've been agonising about chucking in the bin, so this looks like the best home for them.

looks like I've finally got somewhere to send all those old CD's and dodgy Video tapes that don't work anymore
Thanks Vic

Old CDs can be hung from strings and used as birdscarers in the garden.
Glad to find a way to recycle old cassette tapes - good stuff.

Just had a chat with them, they ship them (by sea) to Hong Kong where they are ground down and turned into "other plastic products" this is because:
a) there are no European processors/market
b) they're utilising the fact that a lot pof vessels return to the Far East at least partially empty

I use them to make hovercrafts. You glue a sports drink cap over the hole. Blow up a balloon and put it over bit of the sports cap you would drink from and let the air from the balloon come out. it gets trapped under the CD and the whole thing scoots around for a few seconds.
