Recycling where you work...I'd be keen to hear new ideas on recycling in the workplace.
We currently recycle the following:
Paper
Cardboard
Plastic shrinkwrap
Plastic straps
Plastic cups
Printer cartridges
Wood
Anyone else office/factory based care to add to the list ?

The only thing we recycle (cos there's so much of it) is card, apart from that I can't get anybody to do anything here.

Its sometimes a pain getting people on board, Ive managed to push several items using the financial cost of waste removal these days - its cheaper to be part of the recycling scheme than skip it !!
Plastic cups were the worst - had to justify why we needed to buy the special bins and bags that the recycling company insists we use.

We don't use plastic cups, and our ties are made from offcuts of material and we re-use as much card as possible.

You could try recycling within the company, e.g. get people to make notepads of once-used paper (with blank back) rather than buying notepads.

All the paper goes to be recycled at the tip as ‘domestic’, all the rubbish is burned cos we’re too tight to get it collected.

Ah yes, I do recall you mentioned that recently....

Re: Recycling where you work...Office - paper and card are collected weekly but people are still too slug lazy to get off their seats and take it to the bin, I'm quite tired of the patronising looks I get when I suggest that the bin full of paper could be taken to the recycling bags a whole 20ft away.
Cans are recycled if someone can be bothered to take them; I don't drink cans though.
It's a very young office and I don't know whether that makes it worse; the European colleagues are rather better but even people with children just don't seem to care I have tried but I only have so much time and energy.

My lot were doing quite well for an office:
Paper (& cardboard)
Printer cartridges
Cans
and they've taken on my suggestion that our quarterly "bonus proof" can be electronic rather than ~70 pages of printout.
But then the refit of the reception area happend... 4 perfectly good 2 year old ceiling mounted air-con units just skipped along with loads of other good stuff. I would have played "Stig of the Dump" but there's no room at the inn and my list of home projects is far too long as it is anyway.

That reminds me Trev, when we replace monitors/computers/furniture/anything we are generally offered first grabs at stuff. I think there are still a bundle of office chairs looking for a home so it's quite impressive they've not just been dumped.
