Report help - Organic Calvados

I'm currently studying to be a multi-skilled bilingual admin person (!) and hope you can help with a report I'm writing for my export class.

I'm looking at a locally produced organic calvados. It's a one-man show, with export counting for over 50% of his turnover, though how this has happened is amazing as he doesn't prospect clients or speak English! He has clients in the UK, Sweden, Canada, Germany to name a few.

Within my report I need to describe (with figures) the organic calvados market in Europe ( or world) and then focus in on one country - so the UK. Anyone know where I can find such info?

Then, where is calvados sold in the UK? I think not in the local Sainsbury or Asda. If anyone can say (with prices) it'd be useful.

I clicked on the Vintage Roots ad on here and they sell this particular calvados - are any of the owners on here? I'd like to chat/ ask you a few 'customer satisfaction questions if possible?

Also anything on client perception of the added value of organic and so how much of a price difference customers accept.

If anyone knows anything about importing alcohol to the UK please feel free to say ' have you thought about this or this...etc'

For those who live elsewhere than the UK I'd be interested to know if Calvados is sold in your country, type of shop, price, image etc.

Thanks for your help. I wish I could promise a sample to those who help but I've not even had any!

Actually yes, Sainsbury's do sell it, and so do the other supermarkets so that could well be quite a large part of the market. You should be able to find prices online. Off licences sell it and some of the more specialised independents would sell a better range I think.

There's plenty of places online that'll sell it. (e.g. http://www.thedrinkshop.com/products/productlist.php?catid=416 which give prices. )

Perhaps one thing that may affect things is the fact one of the largest UK off-licence chains went bust last year.

That's surprises me but then I don't shop for Calvados when I return to the UK! Thanks I'll get on-line and check out the other bits you mention.

Ah, Rosie Very Happy !
