Rerducing our water consumption - RESULT!On our last 12 month water bill up to the start of April 09 we used 148 cubic metres of water. I've just read the meter. Since then we've used just 49 cubic metres - which equates to 79 cubic metres per year. We've almost halved our water consumption!
How? Switching to showers and me using the garden when I need to pee. Next step - compost toilet.
I feel really chuffed.

We'd use our compost toilet more if it wasn't in the middle of a very muddy pig pen .

What sort of things have you done to make this happen?

He's started charging his kids and girlfriend for their usage.

Good plan. My daughters spend hours in the shower.
But so do I, it's my thinking place.

Has there been any noticeable change in your living standard? Or has this reduction been largely without any negative impact~

Changes made - me peeing in the garden whenever possible and fitting a shower instead of a bath. No negative impact at all. Next step - compost toilet.

I do so enjoy asking asking earnest urban gardening friends if they pee in the compost. The response is usually shocked/jokey - but then - thoughtful.
