Russian vine disposal

I have a pile of Russian vine the size of a family car. It came from a neighbour’s hedge and was threatening to eat my entire garden. I’m a bit stuck as to how to get rid of it.
1. It won’t all fit in my brown council bin and this is only collected every 3 weeks, so would take forever to get rid of.
2. I could take it to the council tip / composting centre in black plastic bags and let them decide how to dispose of it, but it would take over 20 bags (I’m guessing) and several trips.
3. I don’t want to compost it at home as I think it may root in the compost heap. Also, my compost bin is not big enough and I don’t have room for an extra heap.

It would be a shame to waste it, so the options so far are –
1. Hire a shredder and then compost in plastic bags so ensure it is dead before use in the garden.
2. Borrow an incinerator from my parents and burn it. Use the ash on the garden.

Technically, it belongs to the next door neighbour, but I don’t think it would be kind to take it round for her to dispose of!

Has anyone made anything out of it or found any good use at all for it?

It's a pain to burn, as it's so diffuse and needs cutting into quite small bits to get into an incinerator. Can you get hold of one of those big bags that builders get gravel and things in and put into that to take it to the tip? It will squash down a lot. (Can you tell we've got one too? Rolling Eyes )

Thanks Jamanda, squashing in a larger bag sounds like a good idea!

It's horrible stuff, isn't it? It had almost killed a maple and used it to bridge across into a Bramley apple tree. It was heading for the roof.

There's a certain amount of smug satisfaction at seeing the huge pile this morning. Followed by dismay at having to get it off the lawn... Very Happy

It's not in such a bad place in our garden - down at the bottom slowly enveloping the shed. And it does look nice when it's in flower. But it does need fairly brutal hacking every so often.

Yes, it's a pity it is not edible or useful for fibres or some other end product.

I did find that you can feed it to captive herbivorous lizards, but that was the only use that a quick Google turned up!
