Save your bulbs ...

Well, I don't think you should really but it seems some people thing you should ...

Well I'm hoarding. I'm furious about the ban. The long life bulbs make me feel utterly miserable - the light is awful. Not sure if they make my migraines worse, but they do make me feeling incredibly depressed. I don't have zillions of lights burning all over my house and I think I should be able to make a personal choice about how I save energy.

I'm not hoarding. We only use one "normal" bulb in the entire house - on the landing. All the rest are some sort or another of low energy bulbs.

As a migraine sufferer, I have been careful to avoid the ones that flicker - they don't all - and I particularly like the light given off by the LED lights; it's quite blue, and very natural. So much so that MOH often forgets he's put a light on in the rooms that use those!

Can you please give details of the ones you like? I've tried various kinds (including a hideously expensive "full spectrum" bulb, which gave off a really weird blue light Shocked ). Thanks!

Oooh ... erm ...

We have some lovely low-energy spot bulbs, SES fitting (that's the slim screw-fitting), that I bought from "your welome.com", and the LED ones (not suitable for those who want / need bright light, BTW) were replacements for the 50w GU10 halogen ones from the same place.

We also have a GU10-style fitment that's on a transformer, so uses low amounts of energy. Dunno what the bulbs are in that, but it came from B&Q.

Thanks! I'll have to keep experimenting...

I'm excited about the places LED technology will go. They're just so clever!
