They are very intriguing somehow. My dad used to have some in a marine tank when I was small

cool.....and my namesake works at London zoo!

Alison Shaw, from London Zoo, said: "These amazing creatures have been found in the Thames on a number of occasions in the last 18 months during our regular wildlife monitoring work.

They have a big breeding programme going at Plymouth Aquarium. Very cool to see all the tiny ones.

Seahorses are wonderful. Such harmless little things, but beautiful. I wish I had some.

Did you know it's the male seahorse who gets pregnant?

In one language the word for seahorse literally translates as "sea knight" (as in the chess piece). Can't remember which language but I think it was a Germanic one.

It's a pity that seahorses weren't found in Brixham harbour which is about 50m away from my cottage (South Devon coast). There's a lot of development going on in Brixham at the moment, the biggest one being the expansion of the Fish Quay for the commercial fishing industry.

The link fairy strikes again

Do they still sell packets of Sea Monkeys in the back of comic books these days!!!!! Very Happy

Not such an upbeat story, but plenty of links to other seahorsey stories. Smile
