Season Changing Now...At least, here it is; we're going from the early autumn/late summer mushrooms into the later season shrooms.
So in my quick scoot around the local woods yesterday evening, I found a nice decent size giant puffball, plenty of shaggy parasols, six different species of Agaricus, two past their best shaggy caps, some Pluteus, white coral fungus, a few mystery tricholomas that I didn't like the look of, some Volvariella speciosa, assorted russulas, Lycoperdon pyriforme and lots of common funnel caps (edible but tasteless). Oh, and there are still all of the fairy ring marasmius in the world. The mysterious little milk caps that were all over the woods last week are gone now.
The inedibles included said tricholomas, over-ripe puffballs, earth stars (Geastrum sessile), a death cap, a false death cap, many ganoderma, rooting shanks, big tough old dryads saddles and giant polypores, a moldy old boletus, assorted pointless little ink caps and some LBM's.
Most surprising is that the first two wood blewits appeared, in a new spot I've never seen them in before. Very, very early for those in these parts, but again, it's clearly getting to the later part of the season.
