Seaweed idAnyone any good on seaweeds? It tastes good. You can run it between your teeth and eat the little bladders. It grows in fronds up to half metre long.

I thought that was the bigger stuff?
Just checked and it is the bigger stuff. This is delicate tendrils and less common.

Japweed I think. Invasive nasty brought by boats. Not common is good.

I gave up as well! But I think Jamanda is right, thank you, Japweed. Go out there and eat it everyone.

piccies gone - but the description sounds like bladderwrack. you can dry it out, crush it, and use it as a condiment - rather like pepper. other seaweeds are usefull too. carrageen can be rendered down to make a vegetarian gelatin (however, it has been shown to cause cancer in rats - so dont feed it to your pet rat), sea lettuce is great for making japanese dishes like sushi, samphire is sweet and juicy - a bit like asparagus, and i found some stuff that looks like dreadlocks that tastes quite nice.

The other picies are still there, and certainly was what I said it was. It's quite common down here, and spreading else where. Sheesh.

How odd wonder what happened to the photo.
It is not bladder wrack. I know what that looks like. I had never noticed it before either Cab. It was on a shallow rocky, rock pool covered beach. Completely useless for the fishing I had intended to do. Took some dulse home which went into soup however and had a lot of garlic butter limpets due to Ruby getting the knack of getting them off the rocks this time.
