right i have found a big cluster and i mean big about 80+ shaggys picked about ten , whats the best way u guys know to store them and how i don't have a drying machine so only can be done at home with out food dehydrator info would be nice.

will post some pics soon when i get cam back

I thread mine on cotton and dry them above the wood burner, so a low oven might replicate it successfully?
skedone

cheers mate i thought i was only one to pick them lol
judith

Are they worth drying? As they practically cook to nothing, I wasn't sure if it would be worth the effort.
Jonnyboy

I normally use my dried ones in risotto, it's always been fine.

Shaggy Parasols 'last' much better in the fridge than the ordinary parasols, but I've never had enough to consider trying to preserve them...

well some drying and rest in fridge gonna have some tonight my brother has never tried them and wants to what is a small amount encase he has a reaction ???
dougal

Half or a quarter of a cap maybe?

I believe that an adverse reaction is unusual, but basically, um, gastric...

I rather like parasols (as suggested by Carluccio) sandwiching a filling of egg, fresh breadcrumbs, emmental and gruyere...
Maybe half a cap sautéed, then stirred into some scrambling eggs - to spread the taste and aroma?

shaggy ones are ace

shaggys have a great flavour when dried - worth it.
oven drying is quite expensive tho - have you got an airing cupboard?
skedone

airing cuboard working well now and my brother is not only not allergic but likes them a lot
skedone

any ideas on what timing is on them as there is about another ten little ones there now so looks like a regular place for them but what is growing time and time line
