Sunday mornings are site backup time.
But there has long been something a little odd in posting speeds on downsizer.

At a rough guess the issues arises from there being 15 million rows in the core search table, this table gets updated each time a post is made, if people are searching at the same time as someone is posting, or are also posting, then there is probably a fair bit of table deadlocking going on.
5% of the time you will also invoke a tidying routine which takes time.
I think I will make the search criteria tougher. See If I can reduce those tables a bit.

Well so far 15 million search records has been cleaned to 12 million, the process is an ongoing one as people post new stuff.
essentially I have reduced the common word cut off from 1/10 to 1/25 so searches will not be effected by so many words that crop up all the time.
