Site/forum downtime Sunday morningI'm planning on trying to deal with some very long standing problems with the site in the morning, and I expect there to be a bit of downtime.

Maybe a silly question, but...
... would it be possible (and not too difficult) to redirect ALL access attempts to a single page (with the logo) that just says: "The site is currently down for planned maintenance and should be back up before 1800 GMT today 4 Feb 2007" (or whatever target you are utterly confident of beating).
The actual wording is unimportant; its the presence of an explanation that is important, IMHO.

Long enough to bid on some stuff on eBay. make pancakes with butter pecan syrup for my younger and myself and to annoy someone on Rivercottage.
