Good afternoon. Sorry for the delay in reply. Weighting the traps?
Depends what you are going for and where. Freshwater crays, quiet back water, reservoir lake loch or pit etc then no. Having said that, the choice really is yours.
If you wish to use them in or on the edge of faster water or tidal races then the appropriate amount of weight can be added.
Where possible we use old lead water pipe hammered flat, drilled and attached with plastic cable ties. Recently due to the lack of lead pipe and an underlying desire to be ecologically friendly, we have gathered flat stones from the beach or wherever and drilled them with a masonry drill, then attached them using the good old cable ties again ( what did we do before cable ties?)
The idea and beauty of the traps is their portabilty for storage or transportation, for instance - the multi catch cylinder collapses when not in use to about the thickness of a good dinner plate, it is about that diameter too.
They all take less than twenty seconds to get from flat packed to fishing position. Because of their helical spring , the Multi catch cylinder and either of the BO range can be in the fishing position in under five seconds
The traps are good and efficient,AND a lot of fun.
We are here to help - just yell if you need more help.
Good hunting!!
