solar pv, how thick am i ?

Couldn't work out why my lights were going dim, put a blocking diode to stop electric going back to panel after dark & heating it up, checked levels in batteries. no good.

Then my mate said "whats your car battery like on a freezing morning ?"

Batteries are in the loft.

Now in their own nest of thermafleece, systems working perfect. 8watt striplights are brighter than low energy mains blubs

I had similar with mine bat bank. Its outside is a simple wooden box. Power level was ok but capacity available dropped from 3 or 4 days to 1 or 2 days during the very cold spell this year. Once it warmed up the available capacity returned.

The cold does not remove the available power it just stops the chemical reaction taking place quick enough to keep up with demand.
