Where did you find them? Not the exact location but where were they growing, woods, hedgerow, bark chippings etc..............................

Jumping Jesus! I found one Very Happy Morchella elata I think. OK, it is small and I only got one but I know where they are now and the conditions are good for more!

Got shed loads of these too...

Hello Bingo,

I did not find it in the place you are thinking of. Mind you, I did go there last week but didn't find anything. Probably a bit early and I think they should come soon. Since then I learnt some knew information that cuts down the search area by about 2/3rds Smile

The above find was somewhere new that I discovered (by searching the web) had Morels in the past. Sloping ground, sandy soild over chalk, ash, elder and a few beach, wood anemone, violets - in fact all the classic signs that I had been told about. Not far from Southampton too.

They look lovely but would look better on my plate

Still mostly greens I'm picking; wish I had time to go to the woods and search for shrooms! Those morels look fab.

Nahh, nothing like chewing cartilage Laughing

I slice them up into thin strands and use them in stir frys.

They're an ingredient in alot of chinese foods, tinned soups, cuppa soups and even pot noodles nowadays! Smile
AnnaD

That doesn't sound so bad then! Maybe I'll give them a try after all Smile
