Sounds right.
It's not an aroma I'm a great fan of to be honest, but it is distinctive.

Looks pretty good for St. Georges. Often a little past their best by the time they're that big, so don't be put off if you find the flavour a little, whats the word... distinctive.

Almost. I found a few today that the rain brought out. But yes, down here they are all but over.
I don't find the flavour of large St Georges a problem at all. In fact I like to eat them raw, but sliced VERY thin in, for example, a mushroom carpaccio. The big problem with the large ones is that they tend to be full of maggots

Tons of St. Georges here. Absolutely shedloads. One ring I visited yesterday (detouring back from the shop after an emergency lemon-run; don't ask) had, I estimate, upwards of three kilos on it. Will re-visit today to pick some.

Good season for St George's down here but, apart from the odd one or two, they are over. The peak was at the end of April/beginning of May - errr... St George's Day - but I was getting loads at the end of March too.
The other thing that I've noticed when out and about is that it is wetter than this time last year! The grass/vegetation is also much higher.

Basket load of St. Georges, a few horse mushrooms, and a couple of field mushrooms, as well as plenty of fairy ring marasmius from a short walk at lunchtime. Also threu mushrooms of unknown identity, which I plan to umm and ahh over later.
