Very Happy

More realistic prices at Handmade meats too.

Advice to buyers:

Get 'em fattenened up, you get loads more meat that way and they have a longer (happier?) life.

Thats true but they cost more too. Also its not all about the quantity. A true suckler is about taste & texture plus the experiance.

Ours weigh around 10-12kgs dead weight so if you think about it thats not really a bad price and we cant find any one selling them cheaper than us for that weight.
Many places sell suckling pigs for well over £100 each and they are not rare breed or outdoor reared.
So far we sell all our suckling pigs locally without a problem in fact we have a litter of 10 going tomorrow we do have a large demand for them down in Hampshire but if any one would like one then just let me know.

Sorry about not putting contact details up on the website but I made it last night as I could not sleep so I was not thinking much Rolling Eyes

Ours are around 10-12 kgs so ours are actually cheaper than 'Handmade meats'.

There was no mention of sizes on you ad or site so hard to tell.

Do your prices include delivery (no info on your web site) to the UK?

10-12 kg is hardly "suckling pigs" more like spit roast / catering oven size. I doubt most people would get one in a house sized oven in one bit.

Why dont you apply to join HMM? What else can / do you supply?

PS get a real site (IE a proper domain hosted on a paid for service) not a freeby if you want a better public "image"

I have a totally irrational aversion to wanting to eat suckling pig.

Something in me protests at wanting to eat a baby pig - just can't rationalise it, does anyone else feel the same?

I bet they are older than most of the chicken you have ever eaten.

Yes I know. As I said, I can't rationalise it.

I've split the rest of this discussion over into Does It Matter.

Just didn't want to cloud the sales thread. Smile

The pigs are still suckling so they are suckling pigs however we have done slightly smaller ones but not very often but the locals we sell them to buy a lot off of us in fact most buy one off us every time so we can allow them to go a little cheaper they come back.

We had one of the suckling pigs that we had done today and it was amazing they may have a short life but its a good one and this really reflects in the meat.

We can currently sell them in our area just through word of mouth and we are getting more and more contacts to sell them every day we sold 4 more of our next ones going today alone.

We do large pigs for pork aswell but we just sell that locally as we always sell it with ease but we dont ever rear more than 11 for pork at a time. Our pork is about £7.20 per kg so thats not cheap but as we all know the feed prices have gone up so much Neutral

TBH that website is just a tester as I could not sleep and had nothing to do so wanted to see what it was like if I nocked one up quick it was not somthing I thought would get me loads of orders but its easy to show people the link with alll the info...

We are lucky as we can currently sell them with little difficulty and we would rather sell them locally than have them taken all over the uk but we are happy to have them sent out but we have only ever sent out 4 suckling pigs and we have done a lot of suckling pigs.

Delivery works out about £10-£15 on top of the price of the suckling pig.

Thanks for every ones advice and opinions I know suckling pigs can be a bit of a sticky subject but I feel ours do have the best possible life and many people eat poultry that is younger or as young as a suckling pig.
