Sumac

I have at last bought Ottolenghi's 'Plenty' - some inspiring recipes but wondering where I might get my paws on Sumac?

I'm pretty sure I have some and that it came from Maeth Y Meysedd here. Aren't we meeting in Dolgellau soon? You will need to remind me.

Our came from Sainsburys, our trees are a few years off producing.

I think it's early March ....no, just checked calendar, end March Smile

I'll have a look to see if Waitrose have it, or Dimensions in Upper Bangor, if not, I might give you a shout.

I bought some in a health food store - might be worth a try

Do the butternut squash with chilli and lime.

Pomegranate molasses is worth hunting out. Supermarkets carry it in the specialist section.

If you can't find somewhere local steenbergs is always good for this sort of thing

The deli here will order most things in. If you've got a local deli try asking them. Ours can get single bottles/bags of most things so you're not lumbering them with a load of stock and you're keeping a bit of money in the local economy.

Whilst looking for something else in the spice cupboard I came across an unopened packet of Sumach. Do you still need some? earthyvirgo

as i am not familiar with the stuff i looked it up ,it seems rather important to know which species you are putting in dinner or even the garden

i had a vague idea a botanist had shown me some in nystate along with some "ivy"
