Seems maximum landing sizes may be more important for conservation than minimum landing sizes?

imho south Devon crab is much nicer, I'd choice crab over lobster any day and pot caught = sustainable. and very very tasty..

I don't think anyone was suggesting importing it were they? It's an interesting article about managing a fishery.

not over fished - the MCS recognise crab pot fishing in south Devon as sustainable, due to the inshore potting agreement - a voluntary reserve set up in South Devon. locally managed as you say. Ronnie

There are several hatchery schemes, and they've got really tough on minimum landing sizes.

Unless things have changed recently, there are no maximum landing sizes or controls over lobster pot design here in the UK. And the fishery is really pretty knackered.
