Time/Tiny gone bust

Probably not a lot of use telling people, but you never know. Might be worth knowing if you think the warrenty on one is worth something.

I went into a Tiny/Time shop a few months back. Although cheap I had no intention of buying anything after a few minutes of the sale patter. Promised almost anything I wanted. Tiny went bust a few years ago and was bought up minus the warranty obligations IIRC.

Not surprised at all.

Our first computer was from Time, and after the first year I was on Christmas card aquantance with the courier who picked it up every fortnight Shocked

They are/were rather crap I'm afraid. Probably more of a reason for their demise than the competitive market

We have just put in a claim for our computer which is a Tiny (lightening a few weeks ago) and it's going to be replaced with a Compaq because Tiny are going bust. wonder if it will come with a warranty. It's got an internal modem - not sure about this. Good or bad - anyone any idea?
Jonnyboy

Internal modem is the standard, you won't have any problems. I assume you had an external before which would have needed an additional power supply etc.

Only thing is that its not *quite* so easy to see at a glance that the computer is using the phone line - like "did it hang up properly", etc...
Jonnyboy

seriously? just check the task bar, use auto disconnect or just pull the lead out!

Yeah, its not quite like having an LED plainly showing "online"... Laughing

Always advised people on external modems for this very reason Laughing

I went for an interview for a job a Granville (as it was back then) about 9 years ago - got through to the second round but didn't go because; a: I'd got a job in the interim, and b: got very bad vibes about the place.

When a machine came back that was duff, it got stipped, the parts placed in the shelves and then used in new-builds.
