Time to Dispatch Visual Studio 2008Visual Studio 2008 has to be one of the best IDEs available on the market. However, it always suffered from poor deployment with it's built in FTP being somewhat flakey. Dispatch, from Yellow Cup comes to the rescue by adding very capable FTP functionality. I installed the latest beta yesterday and it's proving its worth already. I highly recommend it.

I have drifted back to the command line, a CVS gui, and the gnome editor. Stone age me

I didn't even know VS could deploy things - I use MS Expression for doing that, it has FTP, FP extensions, and WebDav.

dirty nasty Java types need not apply;)
Deployment projects using MS Vis Studio are great, just run the MSI on the servers picking up the localhostname from the system and accepting a parameter for the domail/site name. We create build and deployment projects and run them from TFS every night if there has been a source code change. change the code on monday and have it running on your dev server the next day having run all the unit tests.
It's great for us as we have developers in 3 timezones developing against the same web services

That might make me feel better but I don't think it would help me understand.

The nice thing is, we don't have to understand. There are some folk who are happy with a mouse in their hands, and others who prefer a dog.
