Treacodactyl

Time to get the scythe out?

Unlike the last few years this year I will do some scything before the grass sets seed. Actually, I'll start next week as the grass is several inches long already! Question is, what's the best length for a novice with a general purpose sythe blade?

about now... Rolling Eyes Laughing

The way I 'see it'...when the grass is still short...you will need damn good/sharp blade that is also nice and narrow for proper grass cutting....but when the grass is that little bit longer, it will give a little bit of 'weight'/resistance against the blade...and if your blade is on heavier/bulkier side, it will bite better.
The main thing is that to cut green grass..you don't want it to be that long that it start to fall over and lay flat.

The local farmers are out silaging again, so it probably is about the right time.

That's early Treocodactyl. I haven't seen any round here yet although the grass seems to be growing all right. I would expect nearer the end of the month or even into June.
