To trade tomorrow, or not to trade tomorrow?

Am at the medieval village tomorrow and monday being baker's wife. Have always had an arrangement with management there that I can have a small table of appropriately themed goodies for sale as a bit of an extra attraction for the visitors. Usually sell very little and treat it more as 'awareness raising' for future sales, but even the odd sale helps pay the petrol etc.

Am dithering with it being so grotty out though as to whether its worth the effort this time. Whatever I take usually ends up smelling slightly of woodsmoke so can only be sold in that context again, and if its really drippy out people come in so damp, and the house is so dark, that nobody is in any mood to look at small historically inspired trinkets and booklets.

So, do I or don't I? If I don't it makes for a much easier weekend for me, but I lose one or two potential sales, if I do I have to go and sort out a boxful of stock now, probably print some more booklets, and all the little chores that goes with getting any display no matter how small ready. Confused Really can't decide either way.

Don't. Have the weekend off. Why are you working if it's not to have some free time?

Thats what I'm trying to convince myself, however I think I have far too much scottish and yorkshire blood in my veins, the thought of missing a sale through my own slothfulness is just wrong Embarassed

I'm currently thinking I might just take a single tub full of things I can easily lay my hands on, just a few booklets, a few bars of soap, a few packets of dyes and spices, and leave it at that, at least its sort of a compromise with the tradesman in my soul Embarassed

Do that, and you'll wish you could have done more. Stay in bed. Eat Chocolate. Stuff it.

If you can't have Easter day off, when do you deserve a day off?

Its not slothfulness, its R&R. Which means that you'll be fresher and more dynamic for your next sales opportunity. Which means you'll end up with more sales in one go than two no-energy/enthusiasm events.
And thats coming from a Scot.

I've got to be there anyway, so an actual day off isnt part of the equation, its whether I just go and look dutiful or whether I peddle a few wares on the side really

Well, if you have to go, travel light, and don't count on any sales. Then, you won't be disappointed. Take the minimum.

yep, think I'll do that. And take my knitting...

On the bright side,we're going to slow bake a shoulder of lamb in a herb and saltcrust wrap overnight in the woodfired ovens after the bread comes out, so that should be yummy Very Happy
