TodayIn addition to my routine tasks, today I aim to creosote the last of my chicken sheds, render and titivate the inside of a small stone outhouse that we have and then finally, I want to replace the hinges on a chicken pen and install a couple of laying boxes.
What about you ?
It looks as though the weather is going to be favourable.

Flying several PC's at once followed by a trip to Welshpool on Friday, then in London for the weekend (working in a cramped server room for hours swearing at the lack of space, cat5 cabling and servers) and on Monday down to Lampeter for a tender presentation and on Tuesday another tender presentation somewhere in north Wales.

Blissful sunshine here after two days of rain. I'm going out to take some photographs before the clouds pile up again, then I've got a lot of domestic chores to do (or fail to do because I get distracted by something more interesting ).

Well, lighting the woodburner is definitely going to be the highlight, move the cows, go to the doctors to put an order in, try out the new stove, pick some berries & possibly process them, plus whatever little surprises the day unfolds.

I just moved the new calf as plans have changed slightly - I was going to bring Angus and Microcow in last week as she's due to calf soon and I want milk! But when we brought them into the field closest she just escaped and legged it back to her mates as dexters do Angus of course behaved himself but we let him back in with the herd to save anymore bother and then I did my ankle so I havent been able to get him in and the calf's been on his own and a bit chilly and lonely I think
Apart from that - berry picking, steak cooking, grandparent ringing, illustrating and calf and poultry feeding.

The old chap's gone on a geological ramble with a friend, so I'm home alone. So far I've got a pot of marrow & chilli relish on the stove, I've got bread and cakes to make and tidying/cleaning to do as well as laundry and sundry other oddments. Might get a bit of knitting in this evening.

Stacey has plenty of old coffee jars if the one you're using to start with gets too small.

I replaced my stove rope last week.

Will you lot stop it. I got up, delivered child to school after buying ingredients for dt lesson (informed last night at about 8 o'clock), discovered hard working farmer was still asleep, went back to bed, got up answered phone all morning , met other child, opticians, asthma clinic (feeling virtuous at this point) picked up other child, made chutney while happily watching all my children sitting around the table just messin' about together, went out for harvest supper and soon will be going back to bed (I particularly like this bit).

Why a Sankey?
Unless you are into doing shows they are not the best trailer.
You are limited to 750kg pay load (or 500kg on the narrow track) 1120kg all up weight. Ok they will hold much much more but dont get stopped.
You also have to use a NATO hitch a standard pin is no good as you need the rotation on the hitch as the ring / trailer wont. They are also very heavy to move (370kg) so not good even empty for one person.
Oh if you dont have one you can get the manual HERE

Well it's mainly for off road use, log's, fencing and stuff. I already have a NATO hitch on my defender (on a dixon bate adjustable slider).
Strange as it may seem, I also like restoring old vehicle's. No doubt influenced by my Dad, who was in the REME and does the tricky welding bits for me
I've restored a landrover series one, two MG midgets (1966 & 1968), a MGB roadster (1967), Triumph 650 bonnie (1968), Norton Commando 750 interstate (1973) and a BSA 250 starfire - to date. I'm also a lifelong landrover driver, learnt to drive in one 26 years ago and apart from one slight glitch when I brought a 'Disco' I've only ever owned Landrovers (apart from the MG's). The sankey is my project for this winter I'll get some pic's of it later in all it's dirty greasy glory, before I start it's make over.
