TomTom One Classic Sat-Nav

Doesn't try to connect to your portable telephone. Doesn't offer 'an in-car entertainment module.' Doesn't warn you about speed cameras, but does warn you of speed limits. Costs very little and works.

Perfect.

How much is 'very little'?

About £85 at Argos.

I have an old TomTom One, probably a "classic" and it can connect to Blueooth phones if you have one.

Battery died pretty quickly on it, so it needs to be kept plugged in on a journey.

But it is an easy to you device that does what it says on the tin, and unless you can afford to fork out for a a system that does have a decent map update service or time of day routing then I'd recommend it.

I got me girlfriend one for her birthday last year, cost about £100 I think. It does the job nicely although when you put in the nearest petrol station near us it points you to a Q8 which is no longer there and is now a Subway and has been for about 3 years.......

Mine has the bizarre belief that to get home we should turn right off a dual carriageway, go 75 yards to a roundabout, go round it and back to the dual carriageway, to exactly the point where it told us to turn off and then turn right to carry on as if we had never turned off at all Rolling Eyes

Our garmin can do that, and the map is out of date now but still fine for 99% of routes.

Like all things, the manufacturers need to continually make them shinier and more gadget laden to keep sales up to early adopters.
