Topic reply notifications

Another technical Confused - sometimes I get TRNs almost immediately, sometimes there's a bit of a delay, sometimes quite a long delay, sometimes I get multiple notifications for the same thread between visits, sometimes I get them for a while then they stop coming altogether, sometimes I get one for a thread that hasn't seen the light of day for months, they never go into my junk mail folder... My brain keeps vaguely trying to work out the rules, but they elude me Laughing. Can someone enlighten me?

All mail is queued in various ways, it can be delayed on the server is there is a ton of mail waiting to go, it can be delayed at your mail provider, your email client might not be picking up email frequently enough.

I can understand the variable time-lapses being due to various factors, but I don't understand why I sometimes get multiple TNRs for the same topic and why they sometimes seems stop coming altogether. However, without getting really nerdy about it and tracking all my posts, views and TNRs I don't suppose I'll ever sort it out in my mind... Laughing

If you're offline, you'll only get one TRN until you log in again and re-visit the thread. However, if you're online you'll get multiple TRNs every time someone posts.

If you're offline and receive a TRN, you won't receive any further TRNs for that thread until you visit the thread, regardless of whether you log into DS subsequently.

Does that match your observations?
