Topshells (painted top)

Are the painted top winkles edible and any good? Found tons and tons of them on rocky beaches in Dorset.

Loads. Belemnites, some bivalves I'm still pondering on, a fragment or three of fish bone in stones, the BEST oyster shell fossils I've ever seen, a very weathered ammonite, some good tregonia... Wonderful place for fossiling.

Looks like at least the thick top (Monodonta lineata) MIGHT be edible, at least its eaten in the Scillies according to this site:
