I read/heard somewhere a while back - don't recall where, maybe Countryfile - that consumers should be encouraged to remove excess packaging and leave it supermarkets' customer services. Sounds like an excellent form of civil disobedience to me.

I watched someone put out six large sacks of recycling outside her house this morning - completely topsy turvy - the main principle had been lost somewhere along the line.
