Saw it was on but resisted the call to sit downstairs and be sociable, just. Was it any good?

I thought it was excellent and, after seeing all their hard work under difficult circumstances, have vowed not to complain at all this Christmas about my temperamental cooker (well just the once, perhaps....)

I don't know which task I admired their patience and skill in completing the most - skinning the peacock in one piece or apply goldleaf to a pie.
(I was going to say tart but that would just be encouragement to some, and confusr the Bond fans)
Wouldn't mind if it was added to the programmes that get repeated every year.

thoroughly enjoyed that. I was interested in the skill in getting the bread oven to temperature, it was quite a palaver wasn't it?
Also thought that the food hygiene folk would have had a fit had they thought about putting a peacock skin ( uncooked) on to a cooked pie!
Saw the gold leaf being applied to the marchpane but missed out on what that was actually made of.
Liked the costumes -the hats looked like something Sally had made; lots of felting!

Oh good - I am glad it was good I taped it as I was having to endure possibly the worst Indian meal in history

I taped it, and will watch it with the children as KS2 are studying the Tudors next term. This is perfect timing for us.

loved it---especially when i realised it was the"Green valley" team -I've got the dvd. Absolutely determined to have a go at breeding/raising a peacock for a festive meal-----if only I can sell the d***n house so we can complete the move to Wales-----already got my bees there and planted 31 fruit trees

The Green Valley people did the same kind of thing, but for a Tudor Christmas feast. So peacock skinned, pied and skin put back on and served with fire coming out of its mouth, marchpane gided with gold, loads of neat little period details and fun cooking from the time making for a cracking little (hour long?) telly prog.

Wasn't well publicised; Ellie scoures the Radio Times though, so if it interests here theres a fighting chance I'll get to see it.
