Turf and Succulent roof - advice needed

We have a two-year old 6x8 foot garden shed that has a substantial base - the roof felt needs replacing and we wondered if it would be feasible to use turf and succulents - Has anyone any experience of this method of roofing and can advise on weight/methods?.....thanks Smile

All I know is that they are very, very heavy! I think Gervase might have some info on this Ian - or at least be able to point you in the right direction. I'll ask him later.

A bit of info and a couple of links in this thread.

Green roofs are very heavy, and need a shallow pitch. If you use sedum rather than turf you can save on the weight, but you'd still need to reinforce the shed substantially to cope.
Have a look here for a book which gives the gen on converting sheds for green roofs.
resistance is fertile

Prepping a shed roof that size for a sedum blanket wont take much in time or money, (unless you want to jump about on it Very Happy, and even then, thats normally the way we go!)

my three leg stool saved me in a turf roof collapse (very heavy when wet)
