Some kind of squash, looks a lot like a sweet dumpling too. I'm still waiting for my sweet dumplings to amount to something, but I believe Judith has some smashing ones, perhaps she can be persuaded to post a picture?

It was nice, I have to say, so I have saved the seed out of it. Thats why I am interested to know what it is, because it was the only one, which apeared amoungst the marrows and cougettes, and doesnt look like the plant is going to produce any more.

I think Will is wilfully misinterpreting my innocent expression of interest in another member's delicious, sweet ripe fruits
Incidentally I didn't really want sweet dumplings this year, I wanted cream of the crop, but there was a bit of a mix-up on my part.
Regarding saving the seed you may find that it has crossed with the other squashes near it, and won't produce the same fruit next year. Worth an experiment if you have the room, but if you need to produce an edible crop from every inch of space you might want to consider buying fresh seed.

Getting back on subject, yes I think that is sound advice but I might just try 2 plants as an experiment. Its curious that the info on superseed.com for them, states it sould have 'abundent' fruits but I have only one!
The slugs have been taking their toll on the imature fruits of the marrows etc. so its highly likely they like the sweet dumplings as well!!*?

I just got this definition from wacklepedia.com
"Interestingly, in common usage the term "misogynist" can be applied to anyone who holds an unpopular or distasteful view about women as a group."
So what may I ask is distasteful about bugs' sweet dumplings???

They do look very similar. One of these days I will go shopping and get myself a digital camera. But that would mean having to go shopping and listen to a load of waffle from spotty youths, which doesn't appeal.
Tasty though my dumplings are, I think Res' are bigger
