Unfinished Objects (UFOs) A Sept Challenge?I do like Ginkotree's phrase of UFOs and I wondered whether to propose a September Challenge of finishing something off ( in the hope that we have clearer decks for starting thingymas stuff off in October)
What do you think?

I'm in, we have to finish the second neolithic archer outfit by the end of the first week in September and I have two Regency outfits to make plus a WW2 blanket to darn.

Good idea - I'll do the same item I did for the last one

My list is here.
Since I wrote it I've made two cloth bags and have nearly finished a pair of summer trousers. Fingers crossed that they come out OK, so I can just re-use the pattern with different fabrics for a few more pairs. I could do with speeding up my rate of progress though... Ideas for new projects are still coming in thick and fast, but so far I'm fending them off successfully .

I've got a net curtain drape thing I've been sewing beads on to the hem of for about the past year I think and I'm fed up of the sight of it so that's on my UFO list.
There may be other things

I'll try, but no promises! This is from someone who lives in a UFO! I should be able to finish the shawl, and the welly socks, and perhaps the baffing raglan (I'm just blinding followinf the instructions and hoping the sleeves aren't upsidedown or something, the way you do when you turn your first heel.......)

My house and garden ARE my UFO's and it's going to take years..... If they are ever truly "finished"
Other than that I have a book to finish editing and that has to be done by the end of Sept at the absolute latest.

Curtain material here for 2 months and still no curtains up---and it'll be winter soon

Good idea -- I'm in!
Door curtain for the front door for me.
If I manage that, then curtains and blinds for various windows, them quilt covers.
But the door curtain would be a big step

I have a pair of socks, wool from Sally, that haven't had much attention recently.
There is also my accounts to get to the accountant.

Ditto here. And I'll join in: I've got a scrumbled shawl sitting on the back of a chair to do for one. As soon as that's done there'll be something else...

Yep: once I have all the relevant bits of paper in one place it's easy, but I have to remember to find them all first...

I'm in, I have quite a few projects on the go, some of which have been picked up / put down for years!

Remembered last night: there's a suit on the same chair that needs finishing too.
So, so far:
Shawl
Suit
Tax return

Count me in, I have at the moment:
- one and a half socks needing the other half-sock knitted.
- 17 quilt blocks needing attention to become a lovely throw (preferably before 17th September which is when my patchwork and quilting class starts again, must have something to show the tutor!)
- a great many unfinished gardening projects

For a change I only need to fill the tax return in, everything is ready for it.
I have to finish the crocheted hobby horse and the knitted mei tei (for dolls). Aside from a small knitted doll that I'm going to pop on etsy to see if she sells I'm not doing too badly for UFOs (erm, aside from the house and garden...)
Oh and the felted sun - it's crocheted and ready to go in the next towel wash to felt.
I do have plans to make a little cowboy shirt for my youngest son's doll and really I have to start stuff for Yule otherwise I'll never get anything finished!
Soapnutter has set a challenge to make some scarves (as she makes a donation to a women's refuge every year) so I'll be making a couple of scarves for her too (but that shouldn't take long).

Do you have more info on the challenge? I have a scarf almost finished that has no home, so would like to donate it.

Me too. I'll have to get down to some stuff next week.
In my defence I can only say I've done a pair of socks, a pram blanket and started a lace scarf, as well as being poorly and doing some pig stuff.

Hmm, "finish" something in September. Where do I start? Let's see:-
a. various DIY projects in the bathroom;
b. the building site AKA "the dining room";
c. the derelict mess AKA "the kitchen garden".
And let's not even mention endless, endless work projects.

I have done the accounts! Yay.
This years to catch up now, and the VAT.
Also finished a scarf, and started another. Done various badge sewing duties.
Not too bad then.

I've finished two dishcloths and one scarf and am half way through another one.
My bead curtain remains untouched however but the cat thinks it a cosy nest

I can't say I've finished anything (yet) but I have made lots of progress on the raglan. I'm nearly there. If I go and mow the lawn now, I can finish it tonight, possibly.

my whole existance is a UFO but will have to finish winter cardigan ,raglan sleeves for a less bulky fit. As to the patchwork curtains for my canal boat well next year maybe and some things probably will still be work in progress for ever
|
Pea
|
My mums curtains will be finished by tomorrow evening. Then to decide what to finish next
|
wellington womble

I'm persevering with the raglan, but it's got to picking up stitches for the button band, and I'm getting a bit baffled. It is jumper shaped, and more or less fits, though - so if I can push on through the last bit I think I'll be quite pleased with it....

just about to do the 'ninja sock of death' manoeuver ( it says so in the pattern) on my first sock we may well have a finished sock very shortly!
I know I then need to do the other one

Really would love to make socks with my own spun wool but have too many ufos to finnish first, an incentive to finnish them to start a new project....Good luck with number two

Mums curtains just finished, I started my door curtain last night, hopefully that will be done by the end of the month.

How is everyone getting on? I have now finished the boat cushions, they did get a bit tiresome towards the end, you get fed up with looking at the same fabric!

...er, can I have another September please?

I've been reasonably disciplined (for me) and have finished the long-avoided cardigan, a neck cosy (forgotten all about that) the blue silk and mohair scarf and the alpaca raglan. But only because I've been off work. I have no excuse for failing to finish the sock. I would do it tonight (if I'd remembered earlier that it were the end of the month today) but I'm teaching. I might try and do it tomorrow, but I ought to do some house-drudgery, really.
Oh, I forgot the slippers, too. If I did the house drudgery, I'd be able to get to my table and felt them. I also have cast on for another jumper. But I guess four finished to one started isn't too bad.
The now infamous cardigan....
The leftover cardigan yarn neck cosy/wheatbag cover (can't decide which I like it more as, yet)
The raglan (which is a bit curly around the not-quite-even buttons)
and the sort of lace scarf (which still needs blocking, but we're expecting visitors, so I can't use the spare bed)
|
sally_in_wales
|
I really like that scarf, think I'm going to try something similar with some yarn I have languishing awaiting a project.
I've done ok in as much as the projects I wanted to finish at the start of the month are done, but ore have taken their place, so I dunno if the net gain is a good one. At least the house is slowly clearing of goat fur
|
Mrs Fiddlesticks
|
I've finished some things like 2 dishcloths and 2 scarves but I haven't finished the bead curtain I first identified as needing attention at the beginning of this thread
